One not to miss….. METALGIGS.co.uk

If you are looking for a place that holds a comprehensive list of all gigs that must be visited (and you all know you are!) then this is the site for you. I must admit that i have spent hours and hours trawling through the individual sites of each venue looking for the gems contained within to pop in the diary, but no more does this need to be done!

Not only this but the owner of the site is a damn fine photographer so go check it out now, you won’t be disapointed!

What to expect on October 1st

With only just over a week to go you can feel the excessive excitement in the groggy air of london town… children have been asked to stop playing in the streets late at night, Mothers have insisted that their daughters are locked up tightly and 1000s of half arsed bands have split up and given up all hope knowing that there is just nothing that can live up to the 6 bands that shall be performing in 2 Saturdays time!!

If you don’t believe me, or just want to get yourself all overexcited then you can check these bad boys out below:

Iron Witch – Single Malt

I am so happy to say that i have had the chance to tour with these nasty little buggers and although they are evil sounding bastards they are all bloody nice chaps. So, you would think that i would start this from a very biased point of view, and you’d be right! This being their second release but first proper full recording, it does contain the same tracks as on the first CD but MY GOD! does it sound bigger, badder and all together better than the first time round, as with every person i could easily sit and list this bands influences but there is really no need for that at all…. Just sit back relax with a nice ‘Single Malt’ and put your feet as this my friends is the best thing this side of NOLA!

Make sure keep an eye out if they are playing live in your area as their live show is every bit as good as what you hear here, i can guarantee that as soon as i get a chance to get these lovely sods down from the Mersey they will be appearing on a WPC bill in the future.

Dripback – Inhaling the Ashes

Well what can I say, from the moment this EP starts with the call of “Come on you Cunts!” you know exactly what your getting. Ruthless, relentless and down right dirty Crusty grind that no matter where you are forces you to stomp around with your fist firmly to the sky! I think this is an EP that can be officially entitled a ‘Pricktease’, just like those pretty little things that you meet along the way, this song offering gets you all excited and wound up and then leaves you when you least expect it to finish yourself off. It manages to be an extremely brutal piece of Death/Grindcore but with some really fantastic melodic moments and proper hardcore inspired gang vocals, particularly on the track ‘Dilapidated Soul’. And it is with no surprise that these boys have produced a piece of work like this seeing that they have previous members from epic bands like Ted Maul and Labrat.

So,Just get on with it lads and get us a full length release out nice and quick and if you’ve got any sense whatsoever you need to go and catch these guys live. They are playing very soon at Camden’s greatest music venue ‘The Unicorn’ on November 11th and its FREE… Get down there and have it!

Boss Keloid – Angular Beef Lesson

I have been a massive Iron Monkey fan for quite a number of years now and my all time favorite song of theirs is the very name of this band. So i can be forgiven for thinking that i was going to get a slab of traditional ‘Monkey’ inspired filth when listening to this first full length release. This really is not the case, from the moment that the first song ‘Reveal The F’s’ kicks in you can see that this is a very different beast, with stomping riffs (which i hope i will be forgiven for saying do sound very Pantera influenced in their sound) and equally impressive vocals with some very interesting effects used on a number of tracks! This really is a band that i feel need to be seen live in order to really build a final verdict on, and i hope to get them involved in a future WPC night in the not too distant future.

Stand out Track: Spurt Reynolds
