GURT – NEW EP details, Pre-order and Trailer!!!

Its finally on its way to getting out in the world but here GURT are and ready to projectile vomit as nice big slice of sludge at your earholes!!

Any follower of GURT’s actions will have noticed that this year has meant a significant line up change within the band with Jamie McCathie (Guitar) and John Hughes (Bass) exiting the band at the end of 2011 to travel to foreign pastures to live. This has meant that new recruits in the form of Rich Williams on guitar (of Sedulus fame) and David Blakemore on Bass (who has filled in on previous gigs) have taken up the challenge of replacing 2 of the founding members…. And WHAT A JOB THEY HAVE DONE!!

Anyone who has had the chance to see the new Version 2.0 of GURT will now see how well the 4 have connected and a new found energy has been used into producing a brand NEW EP for all to hear before 2012 is over! In order to complete the transition in an interesting way this recording of songs will feature both Jamie and Rich on guitar duties and will feature 5 members on the songs featured….

The ‘You Ain’t From Around These Parts EP’ features:

1: (Pre) Verted (Intro)
2: You Ain’t From Around These Parts?

‘Bright Curse’ Raising money for new EP

All who in a band will know how hard it is these days to get funding for a release (us included so come buy some GURT merch so we can release our new EP!) It seems the band Bright Curse are afer help too and they have not long left to raise their target, find out more in the teaser trailer below;

Check out their facebook page here, and find out more about the band themselves below:

Deep, dark, hypnotic and addictive, Bright Curse evolves in the Heavy –
Psychedelic scene represented by tenors such as Sleep, Graveyard, Colour
Haze or more recently, Mars Red Sky. To achieve our first EP scheduled
for the fall of 2012, we aim to raise the money needed for the recording
with JB Pilon at Rock of London Studio and the mastering which will be
made by Brad Boatright (Portland, Oregon) who worked on the recent
reissue of the monolithic Sleep’s “Dopesmoker”. We need people who
believe in us! In addition to badges, stickers and limited edition
posters, you will receive your free EP upon its release in digital
format of your choice (MP3 or Flac). The most generous of you will also
be able to meet us at private events.

A small biography:

Bright Curse’s story begins when Row, singer and guitarist of Soul
Manifest, decides to leave the north of France to live in London.
He finds a friend, Sam, who already lives there for 2 years, and asks
him to join him as a bass player. Together, they rebuild the band with
two other musicians (one Australian and one English).
Unfortunately, after many changes of drummers, energy slows down. The
original line-up has been altered so they choose to stop the adventure.
Nevertheless, Row and Sam decide to create a new band, darker, fatter
and more mature.
Their friend JB Pilon (who will handle the recording of Bright Curse’s
EP) introduces Zak to them, a drummer from the metal scene!
A gig at a private party, few psychotropics and a practice later, the
alchemy was in the air and Bright Curse was born!

Something Trippy this way comes…. (if you live in Europe!)

News just in that 2 psychedelic behemoths are about to destroy mainland Europe, and if anything this deserves a prize for both ‘Best Tour title’ and ‘Best Tour poster’!

Fat&Holy Records is proud to present you the upcoming tour of the two Psychedelic Stoner rock bands WIGHT from Darmstadt, Germany and TRIPPY WICKED from St Albans, England…. it will be totally wicked! Both bands know how to rock, without compromises, evil and dark, but without losing humour. There are a lot of different moods and feelings and these bands totally reflect the real life in their songs.

You can listen to the new albums on bandcamp:

WIGHT
TRIPPY WICKED

WE have had this news in and it has made me a very happy chappy for all you fantastically lucky French and German readers out there!! ENJOY, heres some more info from the bands themselves:

Wight have just released their second album “Through The Woods Into Deep Water” on LP on Bilocation Records and CD on Fat&Holy Records. The feedback has been incredible with album of the day at roadburn.com, album of the summer at theobelisk.netand a lot of high rated reviews. Wight planned to write a rock album with all their influences from 70s Classic Rock to the 90s Grunge Scene and true to that have ended up with a mix of high overdriven guitars and groovy rhythms. The album was released in July 2012 and Wight had already played it live at Festivals like Desertfest Berlin, Stoned From The Underground and Misty Mountain to a great reception.

After a meeting of both bands at the beginning of the year they decided to tour together.

Trippy Wicked & the Cosmic Children of the Knight’s most recent album, Going Home, was released 30th April 2012 on CD and LP via the band’s own label Superhot Records. Going Home is the band’s second full length album and continues their alternative take on the stoner and doom genres, injecting some much needed positive vibes and generally turning expectations on their head. And of course, there are drinking songs. Lots of drinking songs.

Going Home was recorded by the band themselves in late 2011 and after a successful European tour with the USA’s Stone Axe, Tony Dallas Reed, who counts the latest Saint Vitus album among his credits, was put in charge of mixing and mastering the record (Reed also mastered the Wight album, so the triangle closes).
Not content with just working the desk for Trippy Wicked, Tony has offered to step in on drums for the upcoming October tour as drummer Chris West will be filling in for Dicky King on bass.
