After the success of The Human Disease Promo stage at Desertfest 2012 in which both Matt and Gareth worked together on we are chuffed to have them back. Both these guys have worked with bands from across the globe as well as being dedicated linchpins of the UK underground sludge / doom / stoner scenes, so we are excited about the line up being put together.
Second Desertfest announcement Ramesses will be the first band to be named for the stage and we have another exciting announcement coming Wednesday so look out for it.’

This is the first brand new material I have heard from this band since ‘Confederacy of Ruined Lives’ which was by far my favourite album due to the high production on it. Eyehategod are known for their filthy low-fi garage sound and people usually expect a raw production. I think this fits nicely in between the 2, just like Goldilocks porridge its not too hot and not too cold, its just right! BUT IT’S ONLY ONE SONG!!
We have been waiting for 12 years for a new album and this nice fat lump of sludge is not enough chaps, so now your have exorcised your demons and got back into the swing of things, lets get this album out on the shelves before the year is out……. Please!?

I have found myself having to write about this EP straight after listening to it as I have heard some long time fans saying relatively negative things about it upon first listen. I can completely understand why, as with ALL Down records they are not necessarily instantaneous and this like all their previous albums is a definate grower!
Bar a handful of songs like ‘Lifer’ ,‘Stone the Crow’, ‘Ghost along the Mississippi’ and a few more there has always been a majority of tracks that take a few listens to get used to and would be considered to some as “filler”. I strongly believe that in this case the new tracks are strong but i don’t get it straight away. I know once I get used to them as a whole its going to be a damn good all rounder as its certainly jam packed with riffs, but for now its only really the final track ‘The Misfortune Teller’ that really stands out as a really blinding song with a couple of mind-blowing beast monster riffs that make me sit on the edge of my seat and for that reason I CANNOT WAIT for them live but obviously have to wait until the October 21st until i get that opportunity!
Other immediate highlights include the first minute and a half intro to ‘Levitation’ and most of the lead single ‘Witchtripper’…..
This is not a bad record at all and should definitely not be avoided, what I think is that it should not be judged on the first listen. BUY IT AND LEARN TO LOVE IT!
It is indeed very busy in the Sedulus camp at the moment preparing their brand new ‘Beta’ EP. The previous ‘Alpha’ EP was released earlier this year and the 2 tracks contained on that wetted the appetites of the general public greatly and luckily for us the boys got straight back onto preparing some new stuff!
