I first came across this record from WIHT last year and ranted very favorably about every single detail of it and then booked them immediately for my Winter show last January where shortly after they announced they were to split so it was to become one of their final gigs. It was absolutely gutting after spending a while getting so excited, BUT then they were asked to play Desertfest 2012 and NOW this!

Sadly, they still are not around but having this reissued on our beloved wax and with a whole new song ‘End Of The Reign’ as a bonus track. This truly is something to get excited about all over again.

This is how I want to start my year, with killer filthy nasty little punk inspired Sludge goodness! I have such a back log of releases from last year and since having the opportunity to sit down with this i have listened to it over and over. There is riff after riff and just brings back that feeling of wanting to go invert some faces and smash some shapes on the old dancefloor!

As previously mentioned last year, this was produced at Cros’ Nest Studio in South London and the work that Sam has done on it has really brought the music to life. When DKH played at last years WPC summer show you could see how violently energetic they were and this is perfectly reflected in this album.

You can name your price on the download at their BANDCAMP NOW but with some cracking artwork to boot I want to see this physically released ASAP!

The quite aptly named AWESOME MERCHANDISE can not go without a mention as i am sure many of us bands can say that we have had some Merch of some description produced by them. Whether it be one of the hundreds of stickers that plague UK venues toilets OR the simple flyer or poster for shows, these guys are damn good at their job and it can be seen at the rate that they are growing as a business.

Perhaps their Shirts could be a little more fairly priced BUT for everything else they sell they are well worth a look!

This is very much in the same area as yesterdays review, its so good to see a new generation of Doom bands that are grabbing influences from other genres and getting the best out of their music. ATRAGON have a real old NWOBHM feel about them with some of these riffs, The song ‘Jesus Wept’ in particular is just as much influenced by Pentagram as it is early Maiden!

And again, at a very similar length to yesterdays offering these songs do not drag at all. The riffs are ever changing and cascading and the production makes it sound as if it could have been created at any point in the last 30 years which i think does it great justice.

Although this was released last year its new bands like these that make this year so exciting and i hope to see these fellas on the live circuit sometime soon. If you want to give it a listen you can go over to the magnificent WITCH HUNTER RECORDS and give it a spin HERE.

So then people, its been a hell of a year for all involved in the underground filthy music scene with many of our bands on the up and getting some damn good recognition so lets hope that with 2013 now on the go we only all get bigger and better!

The next big slice of excitement for us all comes in the form of the our very own WINTER WARMER WEEKENDER and not long behind that, the mighty DESERTFEST and here we shall no doubt see more headline grabbing fun and frolics in the world of Stoner, Doom, Sludge and Psych!

I can confirm that we will have another BBQ edition of the SUMMER SIZZLER due on the Saturday of June 29th so keep your eyes peeled for announcements after the next event…

HERE’S TO AN EXCITING 2013, BRING IT ON!!!

When i first heard this record from MOGHUL back a couple of months ago i felt so taken a back with what i thought could potentially be just another Doom band i penned the term ‘Ambient Sludge’ to use for this very review!

I am not sure if ‘Ambient Sludge’ is a term that should be used perhaps ‘Post Filth’ but the way this record builds so well i thought the only way it can be described is by creating some new stupid pigeonhole for it.
Joking aside, What i mean by this is that its so monumentally crushing one moment and builds so epically before then breaking down to a more simple and almost relaxing ambiance it truly does make an interesting listen and very refreshing indeed.

2 TRACKS , 23 MINUTES, JOB DONE, What a perfect start to what could be the best year yet for Sludge and Doom!!!

I think Devizes are really going to be upping their game this year with their eyes already on some damn fine sludge bands as well as regulars like Fukpig and Kroh due new releases. Get over to the site now and PRE-ORDER this beauty on lovely limited Green vinyl.
