VODUN Sign with Superhot Records for Single Release‏!

Thats right folks, upcoming SUMMER SIZZLER openers are joining Superhot Records to release single, OYA by heavy psych soul trio Vodun on 10th June

Vodun

Vodun, the ex-Invasion heavy-psych-soul trio from London have teamed up with Superhot Records to release their upcoming single OYA, on 10th June 2013. The band are hosting a release party on 7th June at The Victoria in Dalston, London where they will also show an exclusive screening of the video for OYA. The video and digital single will be available direct from Superhot Records, Vodun, iTunes and Spotify from Monday 10th.

Featuring two members of one London’s finest underground bands, Invasion, who disbanded in 2011, Vodun have taken the basic blueprint of that band, added a huge West African voodoo influence and ramped up the intensity across the board. Chan (vocals) and Zel (drums) found a kindred spirit in Oli (guitar) and emerged as a more technically accomplished, musically aggressive and energetic band.

OYA follows on from the self released EP Eat up the Sun; 7 songs recorded over 2 days at Holy Mountain studios. The EP was launched in April earlier this year at a sold out show in London which also doubled as their first live outing as a band. The EP showcases their particularly original blend of shredding guitars, forceful drumming and soulful vocals and is currently available direct from the band’s own Bandcamp: http://vodun.bandcamp.com/.

STEAK – Corned Beef Colossus

a3233518088_10

STEAK have done it again, except this time its 5 nice perfectly polished slabs of tasty meat! The songs are bigger and brasher and the production (apparently mixed and mastered by the bands good friends Truckfighters) lifts the guitar and vocal sound to new heights. I remember hearing the track ‘Whiskey Mule’ some time back at the launch for the previous EP and it was a belter then. As with most songs, over time it has evolved into a much more fun and groove laden beast since its first playing way back when.

‘Black Milk’ is by far the heaviest thing they have done yet and makes me want to down a bottle of Jack Daniels in one and the follower ‘Liquid Gold’ has a riff in it that will forever remain in your cranium, all in all a damn good second offering from the lads!

Make sure that if you are in London town tonight that you make it to the launch show alongside the quirky SIR ADMIRAL CLOUDSEY SHOVEL and CRYSTAL HEAD.

Bosskeloid – The Calming influenece of Teeth

Firstly, I think these boys need to be commended on their amazing choice of record title! I did get very excited about the first offering form these boys a while back and have since been waiting patiently for something more and here we have it, 10 brilliant tracks of monstrous racket.

Now whether these guys like it or not, the album starts off with an amazing almost Nu-Metal vibe with those riffs and vocal melody being reminiscent of some of the finest late 90’s grooves. It a massive leap from what i have heard before and a much welcomed one.
The production is grand and its make all the more for a better listen, its the unrelenting almost danceable groove that make these tracks so damn good and the sense of humour is there too (with track ‘Skippers Pipe’ sampling one of the best youtube videos in the world – see below) i cannot praise this album enough.

If smashing some heads is your thingy and pogoing whilst doing it then you need this in your life!

The Dillinger Escape Plan – One of us is the Killer

item

From the word go this new offering from the DILLINGER boys is an absolute stormer of a record, it may not keep those fans that still ONLY like the ‘Calculating Infinity’ album happy (the ones that think they “sold out” when Greg joined) but I truly believe that this record bridges the gap between their Mathcore roots and the Anthemic stature of the last couple of albums.

Personally, I favor the big sing along choruses and brilliant melody that this band can reach and particularly with the tracks ‘One of us is the Killer’ and ‘Nothings Funny’ this is well and truly achieved but certainly with the latter track the sheer ferocity and madness is maintained.

All of the tracks featured on this could definitely make into their frantically chaotic live set although you know there will no doubt only be a handful that actually do, but whatever happens just make sure you give this a spin, it might not be a game changing record but its Dillinger doing what Dillinger do best and we like it that way!

NEW When Planets collide T-shirt??

My recent Obsession with all things H.P Lovecraft have lead me to create this little bad boy…

‘Vast, Polyphemus-like, and loathsome, it darted like a stupendous monster of nightmares to the monolith about which it flung its gigantic scaly arms, and while it bowed it hideous head and gave vent to certain measured sounds I think I went mad then!”

Crazed sea monsters shown paying homage to some monolithic shrine, but this one encrusted with the rune of WPC!!

Lets me know your thoughts as they may well soon become the very first WPC piece of Merch..
