The build up has been pretty long and a hell of a lot of work has gone in to creating it but we are very happy to announce that ‘GUPPY’ the new Split release between GURT and Trippy Wicked and the Cosmic Children of the Knight is now ready and being pressed for release on Friday May 6th!

As both bands are very close friends and have been for many years (as well as now sharing a drummer in Bill Jacobs) we were extremely happy to be able to all go into the studio together to create GUPPY under 1 roof. And with the help of Steve Sears and Tony Nigelson at TITAN Studios in Watford the record sounds absolutely massive and showcases the expert groove and wicked sense of humour that both bands pride themselves on!

The release features 5 songs clocking in just short of half an hour with 2 Brand New songs from each band and one epic collaboration which features both guitarists, both bassists and both vocalists… we really can’t wait for you to hear what we hope will be one of the best releases so far in 2016.

There has always got to be one of those people in the world that says ‘I like the bands old stuff more!’ and sadly today folks I am going to be that man. BOSSKELOID came to my attention about 5 years ago and I instantly fell in love with both previous releases Angular Beef Lesson and The Calming influence of Teeth. The zany sense of humour alongside Nu-metal inspired riffs were a match made in heaven, for me at least!

Now, with Herb your Enthusiasm the band have obviously taken a lot of time to hone their skills and focus themselves on to something a lot more crushing and mature, and they have done an excellent job of creating a release that fits that feel and the current scene of Sludge and Doom in the UK. However, I feel that the sense have humour may have been lost along the way and its for that reason that I was just not as excited on this occasion.

Don’t get me wrong it is a damn fine album and nothing makes me more happy to see so many people embrace what are an incredibly talented band. The complex riffs from Paul are still very evident and Alex’s vocal range is more impressive than ever with his Patton-esque style.. The best song to showcase the true immensity of this album is lead track ‘LUNG MOUNTAN’ which the guys have very kindly produced a visual accompaniment which can be seen below:

So it was little under a year ago that the mighty ELEPHANT TREE turned up with the cracking release ‘Theia’ and it was such a refreshing turn up in a scene that is getting ever filled with sound-a-like bands. Featuring Pete Holland from Trippy Wicked there was definitely a Sludgy vibe to the band especially where bass is concerned but with the beautiful harmonies and use of interesting instruments like the Sitar it was a welcomed addition to the London scene.

I am happy to report that their first full release has surpassed my expectations and what we have here a a collection of songs that are both some of the heaviest fuzz-laden tunes I have heard in a long time but at the same time its the most calming and relaxed albums in equal measure! It truly is a masterpiece and with ex member Riley taking up recording duties on this one I think it has a lot to do with his work as to why the production is near perfect for the band. The song that most proves what I say is ‘Apohotic Blues’ which starts so very trippy and ends as a bone crushingly heavy opus that I cannot wait to hear live again.

And that shall not be too long either as they have just been announced on the Friday of our Final ever Summer Sizzler, Top work gents and roll on July!

So, 3 more bands have been added to the line up on Friday 22nd July completing what will be an incredible first day of the final Summer Sizzler!

We have alongside GURT and Diesel King, 2 old favourites in the form of power trio Mother Corona who have wowed audiences on a couple of previous WPC events and the epic Elephant Tree who have just dropped their brand new album which has received very High praise indeed. the 5th band and opener of the weekends festivities is a new face in the form of the mighty CONJURER whose Death Sludge is bound to be a great start to the fun and a damned good reason to get down early!

Now keep your eyes peeled as we still have the final 5 bands to add to Saturday which shall be revealed in the not too distant future…
