Winter Warmer Weekender 1st Announcement….

WWW2first annoucnement

So here it is! The first 4 bands for next years Weekend event of some of the filthiest music around.

Headlining the Saturday we welcome back our friends in PALEHORSE, after signing to Candlelight records and several high profile gigs it truly is an honour to have these guys back!

They shall be joined by another 2 Bassist noise behemoth in the form of Ireland’s WAR IRON, after a massively well received set at this years Desertfest it will be good to have them back on our shores.

Main support on Sunday welcomes the return of SLABDRAGGER to the Windmill! We have had these boys a number of times but this time they are louder and larger than life and would have played damnation festival alongside our Saturday headliners so it won’t be long before you will not be seeing bands like these in a venue of this size.

On the Sunday we are massively excited to have the electronic doom duo NECRO DEATHMORT. This is one band that has to be seen to be believed and I have been trying for some time to have these boys involved so it will be a magnificent end to the weekend.

I hope that has wet your appetite!? More detailed info, advance tickets and event page to come soon…

NEW video from Steak!!

One of our faves who we recently found out have both signed to Napalm Records AND had their EPs released on shiny lovely Vinyl, have decided to do the triple and bring us a damn fine video for track ‘Glanshammer’. Taken from the recent Corned Beef Colossus EP (read more about it HERE) this video not only is cool as fuck but also show the sheer excitement and ferocity of their live performances!

Come see it below:

Blastronaut – Burning Mother

a0523725770_2

This band is one that I have heard the name of for quite some time and I must admit never really had the opportunity to check out, but the name does not make me immediately jump out at me (despite it being good and damn quirky too) This is why I am a bit of a dick. Because they are a damn fine band, blending heavy stoner riffs with awesome melodies.

BLASTRONAUT are ones to check out. The thing that makes this band (and album) work best is their ability to mix balls out stoner groove with the sort of rock and roll attitude that really is missing in alot of bands in the genre, the vocals sometimes bordering on Classic Rock style wails which for me is a hands down winner!

Have a listen for yourself on the link below and be prepared to party…

Find out more about the bands below:

MANGOO Catchy hooks and sweet vocal harmonies backed by a wall of thick fuzzy guitars and hard hitting drums with an added sprinkling of analog synth sounds, combined they result in a truly unique sound. Stoner rock, psychedelia, space rock or maybe it’s just best described as Mangoo. Hailing from Turku, Finland, Mangoo have been busting out the fuzz since 2005 when they released their untitled debut EP. Countless beers, shows and drummers later in 2009 the first full-length, Neolithic (7:45 Records), was released. Since then the line-up has remained unchanged with Pickles playing guitar and singing, Mattarn with some more guitar, Igor bringing the bass, Teemu pounding away at the drums and Nicke playing keys and just generating weird noises… oh, and everybody singing along and having a good time. 2012 will see the release of the bands second album and Small Stone debut, entitled Neverland. Like the debut it was recorded and produced by the band itself and displays growth to a more dynamic and even more varied sound. Neverland delivers the heavy, the mellow, the jams and the hooks. If you believe Benny Grotto, who mixed the album, it’s “a really cool band from Finland […] who sorta sound like a cross between QOTSA, Rush, Yes, and the Foo Fighters. It’s like, weird, proggy stoner rock, but with keyboards and gigantic pop hooks.

RESCUE RANGERS RESCUE RANGERS like to see themselves as a true ROCK band, but you know, the world likes labels. So, let’s say they stand somewhere between Stoner Rock and Grunge music, with a hint of psychedelic rock here and there. Now, their second album « Manitoba » is the best representation of what they do, and they’ve had the honor to have their contemporary heroes DAVE ANGSTROM (Hermano) and NICK OLIVERI (Mondo Generator, QOTSA, Kyuss) to play on it. They’ve been around for quite a few years ; here’s a list of what they’ve done : 2005 – Release of the first EP. Pascal leaves for Canada, marking the end of the short lived band, as originally planned. 2008 – Release of the first album “Guitars And Dust Dancing”, mastered by Alan Douches. – RR open for the mighty HERMANO. 2009 – Among other things, RR open for Nick Oliveri. Pretty cool. 2010 – “Guitars And Dust Dancing” gets national distribution through TRENDKILL Recordings. – RR accepts Nick Oliveri’s invitation to go on tour with MONDO GENERATOR. Yeah, That’s right. 2012 – after almost two years in the making, ” Manitoba”, the band’s second album, is finally wrapped up. It features guest appearances by friends – and long time rock heroes – Dave Angstrom (Hermano, Asylum on the hill, Supafuzz) and Nick Oliveri (QOTSA, Kyuss, Mondo Generator). Jason Groves (Asylum on the hill, Supafuzz) took on the mixing duties in Kentucky, and it was mastered by Nick Zampiello and Rob Gonela in Massachussetts.

ENOS Enos are a stoner/space rock band from Brighton UK. Formed in 2008 by Chris Rizzanski and Sparky Rogers after the split of their previous band, Dollar Sent. The line up was completed by George ‘Bungle’ Cobbold, previously of Killing Mode and Locust Resin, and Sean Cox. All Too Human, Enos’ second album was released in December 2012 via Stargun Music

DOOM/SLUDGE Stage at Damnation Festival 2013…

This is one of the best ‘long time coming’ moments of this year with Damnation Festival doing the very obvious thing of adding a stage specifically aimed at the Doom and Sludge genre of music!

Having always had a small selection of these sort of bands this new focus on the music that makes WPC tick is a very welcome one and what’s more they have added 2 of WPC’s favourites Slabdragger and Palehorse!

They join the already announced MOSS with a few more to come no doubt!
