Last weeks mysterious image postings from Witch Hunter Records was this week unveiled as a BRAND NEW release from both GURT and LIMB sharing the limelight.

‘Split Roast‘ is in fact the name of this next Witch Hunter Records release and all is still not 100% clear as yet. A trailer was released as another teaser but we are still not aware of how its going to work. Is it a standard split record? or is there a little bit more to it?

With just 2 weeks to go until the 14th October 2013 something tells us that it may all be revealed in the coming week, for now check out the mysterious trailer by CLICKING HERE

This band really are up there it terms of continuous praise from this blog and I am glad to say with these little new bits of material the trend is going to continue…

Bad Fucking Dickhead is a stormer and shows an evolution once again with even cheeky guitar solos thrown in for good measure. The vocals are a little bit less gritty than normal but it still works well and with them lower in the mix it allows those apocalyptic gut ripping guitars to do most of the work!

You must make sure you buy both the Vinyl and CD version though as you get a different b-side on each. the 7″ contains a vinyl only exclusive B side called “the place that we called home”. not to be released anywhere else. and on the CD the exclusive b side “Are you even human” (Rough Mix) is a sneak peek at what to expect from album number 4 as it is going to be included on the forthcoming album later this year.

Good to see that the band are gearing up for a lot of new material as along with these exciting new pieces we are also due a reworking on ‘3’ which will only mean yet more money spent on the DEVISES RECORDS store!

Fellow Blogger THE SLUDGELORD has set up a Charity auction this week to raise money for the family of the late Joey LaCaze of EYEHATEGOD, all people and bands reading this will no doubt owe a lot to this band as either an influence or just as a musical vice and you can show you care by buying some awesome (and in some case very rare) items form the auction.

A large number of WPC favorites have already contributed to this wonderful auction including CONAN, WAR WOLF, WAR IRON and even our very own GURT!

With a name like OPIUM LORD you are definitely going to expect something pretty big in its sound but going by title alone I was expecting some run of the mill Doom/Drone monotony and luckily for me I was wrong in my narrow minded guess work.

What we have here is some nasty little beast that at first listen holds the same sheer brutality as bands like ‘The Abominable Iron Sloth’ with its trudging but epic pace all blending with the slight uneasy melody that you would find in a ‘Yob’ tune. 2 bands that people should be using as their influences. The vocals lead the songs in such a way that it makes me hang off my seat, tops marks to the screaming and pissed off little bastard!

In other words, its HUGE sounding and and makes you feel very uneasy.. Which is OK in my book! MORE MORE MORE

‘After a blistering performance at this years Desert Fest, Zoltan are back with a new EP, Psychomania, a tribute to the score from the movie by John Cameron.

If horror movies are your thing then expect moody Moogs, slap bass and chugging drums. Outside of this release these guys show more than a nod towards veterans like John Carpenter and Lucio Fulci. Mash it all in with some Yes and a bit of King Crimson and you have the formula for a whiskey induced coma. Seriously it was fucking fantastic in April.

Support comes from Matt Thompsons (Zoltan, Rashomon) other synth project Cremator.

And do you know whats best? Its gonna be bloody free!

Come early for some psych DJing from Saúl Do Caixão and Matthew Hopkins (DJ Drunk Lump?) plus a heavy metal disco afterwards, its a celebration bitches!’

With the terribly sad news last week that long time drummer and original member Chris West was to leave the band after 7 years together, this particular release is all the more important as it marks the end of an era for this incarnation of TRIPPY WICKED AND THE COSMIC CHILDREN OF THE KNIGHT. But thankfully this is a definite jewel in their crown and has been received with resounding praise as it is not only their best work yet but their most diverse. Bringing in the best parts of all the previous releases it feels a lot like a long 20 odd minute ‘jam’ rather than a collection of songs and goes to show why these guys work so well as a unit.

As well as writing more music With Pete and on his own, Chris will no doubt be spending more time on growing his label SUPER HOT RECORDS (which released this very CD) But there is no denying he will be truly missed and the person that will step in to his shoes will have to be a thoroughly nice, relaxed and ultimately UBER talented chap.Anyway, enough of that sentimental nonsense!

Pete’s voice has evolved so well and as well as being able to pull of one of the most accurate early Ozzy impressions I have ever seen (at the most recent STUBB show) he also adds such a haunting feel to this record which tells of humanity’s demise and the need to leave our dying planet. The EP mixes some of the “heavier” and “sludgier” elements of their sound which were evident in earlier album ‘Movin On’ with the high production and “proggier” side of recent offering ‘Goin Home’ which marries together so well to create a near perfect offering!

Serious, get yourself yet another drink and LISTEN to this bad boy as its a real winner, and here is to Trippy Wicked bouncing back very soon with a brand new sticksman…

On the evening of this Sunday just past this image appeared on the WITCH HUNTER RECORDS page on Facebook, then almost 12 hours later on Monday morning the same image appeared on the GURT Facebook page then following that on Monday evening it also appeared on the LIMB Facebook page… all the image had underneath it was the date 14/10/2013…

WHAT COULD IT ALL MEAN!!?? I have a feeling more is to be revealed next week

This new 2 track CD release just just what every other recent release from Witch Hunter Records does and that is leaving you wanting more. The 2 epic tracks from new boys SEALCLUBBER are the perfect mix of early ‘Remission’ era Mastodon and the hardcore moments of bands like Kylesa. If I did not know better I would say that this was a band from the musically plentiful state of Georgia (but just so you are aware they are actually from Stourbridge!)

Hats off to the boys as they have really pulled off a damn good first effort as well as having one of the most humourful and unique names that i have seen for quite a while.
