When Planets Collide: Presents – Burden of the Noose ‘Kill The Bastards’
With ‘When Planets Collide’ being around for 3 years now it was about time that something new happened, we have had countless awesome bands pass through the doors at the Brixton Windmill since starting back in 2010 and now with a lot more to do with the booking of the London Desertfest, having run our own stage we have met many many more incredible acts…
But sometimes a band comes along that is just so damn exciting that you want to clamber the rooftops and scream to the masses to demand that they pay attention to just how good this act are and when that does happen there is only one real solution…. Release their Music!
So with that in mind I have decided to start ‘When Planets Collide: Presents’ a brand new label that will be specializing in these moments when you just have to do everything in your power to get them heard, and the band I am referring to?
Hailing from Birmingham, the birth home of Heavy music and featuring ex members of bands like Mistress and I am Colossus. BOTN feature gut wrenchingly heavy guitars and bass with a dual vocal attack very much in the same vein as bands like Bumsnogger and Raging Speedhorn. They mix all genres of extreme music from slow and riff filled Sludge to fast and filthy Grindcore and Black metal stylings and its this blend of styles that make these guys truly special. They have it all with out overcomplicating the sound!
Their ‘Kill the Bastards’ Single will be the first ever release from this label and will feature 2 tracks that truly show off this bands power and potential.
Available as a limited edition hand numbered CD, there will only be 100 of these produced so make sure you get one quick as they will not be around for long.
The first 50 orders will come with a specially designed canvas patch and the 2 tracks will also be available as a ‘pay what you like’ download at the ‘When Planets Collide: Presents’ Bandcamp page from Monday November 4th.

4 NEW NAMES announced for the ‘Winter Warmer Weekender’ 2014!

Here are there next 4 bands added to what is shaping up to be one of the most ground shakingly heavy events in WPC’s existence!
We have both Birmingham’s doom mongers GRIMPEN MIRE and local boys GHOLD added to the Saturday’s proceedings to ensure that the tone is kept low and the day is very much BASS heavy!
On the Sunday we welcome back previous WPC friends DAY OF LOCUSTS who joined us 3 years ago on our second ever show and Manchester Newcomers NOMAD whose crusty sludge will set the day up for some filth from the word go…
And what’s more there are now a limited amount of full weekend tickets available at the bargain price of £10 (Doors costs will be £7 per day) so not only do you guarantee a whole weekend of epic music but you save a decent amount of dollar at the same time!
6 more bands yet to be announced in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for more

‘Split Roast’ is a truly unique release. Two bands: one new song each; one cover of their own choosing; one cover of a song by the other. All recorded especially for Witch Hunter Records.
Both bands’ original contributions, Gurt’s ‘Sophisticate’ and Limb’s ‘Plague Doctor’, demonstrate the bands’ evolving sounds as they prepare to release their debut albums early in 2014. For the first of the covers, Talking Heads’s ‘Psycho Killer’ is given the Gurt treatment: bold guitars, crusty bass, bowel-rupturing drums and pure evil vocals! Meanwhile, Limb delve into the lesser-known corners of Queen’s back catalogue to deliver a raucous version of ‘Son and Daughter’, revealing again the classic rock sensibilities behind their fuzzed-out sound.
What really marks this release is the band’s covers of each other’s songs. Gurt turn to the title track of Limb’s 2013 EP, ‘Gift of the Sun’. The desperation of Limb’s original is transformed, by Gurt, into the ultimate bad trip, all howling guitars and rumbling bass. Meanwhile, Limb take on ‘Soapfeast’ from Gurt’s 2012 split EP with Dopefight. Limb add a driving, swaggering groove to Gurt’s vitriol.
As with all Witch Hunter releases, close attention has been paid to the presentation of the CD. Gnarly artwork designed between the bands is screen-printed in ink the colour of congealed blood onto manilla cardboard sleeves and assembled by hand. This release is limited to only 150 copies, and is also available as a pay-what-you-want download through Bandcamp
Gurt recorded at Loud Noises Studios in Walsall with Owen Davies and Owen Street; Limb at Ghost Town Studios in Leeds with Ross Halden. Gurt are Gareth Kelly, Simon Edwards, Dave Blakemore and Rich Williams. Limb are Robert Hoey, Pat Pask, Jodie Wyatt and Sam Cooper.
