Our first release of 2014 and the third offering from ‘When Planets Collide: Presents’ Shall be the debut 5 track EP from Northern Stoners PIST.

This 4 piece Stoner Rock band from Manchester have nearly completed this first collection of songs and it will come as an extremely limited run of just 50 CDs and direct Download available from our Bandcamp and Bigcartel pages.

I have heard the early versions of the songs and am very proud to bring you all the first tracks from what I am sure will be a damn fine addition to our ever growing army of fantastic UK bands.

So, It has once again been a stonker of a year and looking only to get better in 2014, highlights for WPC this year include:

– Hitting our fourth year of massive tunes by starting ‘When Planets collide: Presents’ the brand new label and releasing our first CDs into the world!

– Alongside Staggerin Matt we arguably had the greatest stage at this years Desertfest.

– Hosting War Wolf‘s first ever gig and Swamp Machines first ever UK gig back in February

Back for the third year running, human_disease_promo / when planet’s collide are teaming up once again to curate a stage of smoked-out heavy rumblings at DesertFest 2014. Anyone who caught the crushing slab of decibel meter smashing doom that radiated from their stage earlier this year will know to expect the heaviest, loudest, most tripped out, underground sludge / doom from around the globe when The Underworld gets taken over on the final day of the festival again in April. This year will see them bringing as many variations of the theme as are out there to forge a dynamic stage including elements of pysch, prog, dark metal and crust, as well as the traditional dirty sludge and weedy doom riffs. Bring your earplugs and lose your mind as hdp / wpc draw out the festival in swampy, distorted style.

Being a massive fan of theatrics in my music I was stunned when I heard this album THE EARLS OF MARS i had written off as a standard Doom band and was an absolute idiot for being so late at giving them a listen. Yes there is that Trad Doom influence in there but there is just so much more to it!

I get feelings of old Music Hall sort of music in there too which is why this is such a winner for me, elements of it sound somewhere between The Tiger Lillies and System of a Down and its this whacky way of approaching their music makes it incredibly refreshing a why I find this such an incredibly interesting listen. The bombastic vocals slip into Matt Bellamy territory at times and lyrically there are some zany and mental stories to be told.

I have been informed that they were handpicked to support Orange Goblin on their recent tour and I have even more reason to be gutted of missing it as this truly is one of the best albums I have heard this year, a late addition to best albums of 2013…
