Diesel King – Horror. Disgust.

a2539967999_2

So most people on Saturday were no doubt sat back, relaxed and awaiting the beginning of this years Eurovision song contest when all of a sudden BOOOOOOM!!!

DIESEL KING unleashed a brand new track unto the world…

The thing was with this track is they did the whole ‘pay what you like’ thing allowing fans to pay what they wanted but I saw it as ‘pay what i think its worth’ and what did I pay?

£6.66!

Why do I think its worth that? Well its crushingly Heavy, its disgustingly nasty and it makes you feel so good after you have to keep playing it over and over. These lads have done it once again except this time with it being just a single track it just makes you want to get more out in the world ASAP!

… BUT rumour has it this track is not all that’s coming, as something is coming alongside it, what could that be I wonder…

HORNSS – No Blood, No Sympathy

hornss

HORNSS are another one of these bands to come along that have taken to the Stoner fuzz meets NWOBHM sounds that do seem to gel quite well. The rise of our beloved genres of music has meant that Doom, Stoner, Grunge and the various other sub-genres close to it are doing well and these guys tend to stick to the blueprint of all of these very well.

Its a bit of a high paced and high energy offering but I find once at the last track I am pretty bored and there is a growing concern for this retro sound in production. I can understand how bands want o recapture the glory days and get it sounding like the NWOBHM bands that influence them so much but there is a fine line between achieving that sound and it sounding like it was actually recorded in a bin, and this one is close.

Don’t get me wrong, its a good listen but one that does not grab the attention too much, give it a go and see what you think!

Salem’s Pot – Lurar ut dig pa prarien

1601309_497166573722707_1828007328_n

So the songs are long, the riffs drawn out and the artwork and song titles are based on old occult horror films. We must have ourselves another Electric Wizard rip off band!

SALEM’S POT are probably a hell of a lot of peoples cup of tea, but this stuff ain’t mine. They sound like a lot of other bands out there that seem to be on the rise at the moment which is damn good for them and I can see these lot joining the ranks of the standard ‘Rise Above’ band roster.

Having given it a good go, there are some awesome Hammond keys on the first track ‘Creep Purple’ and some awesome sounding drums on a small section in track ‘Nothing Hill’ but other than that it is very nicely produced but still with that retro ‘Vibe’… A vibe that I can do without.

Have a listen for yourself and make your own mind up RIGHT HERE
