So to complete the bands for the Friday of this years WINTER WARMER we bring you 2 bands that have never played with WPC before, Leicester’s MAGE and filthy Northerners WORT!
MAGE have just released their second album and both of their albums have got me very interested in getting them down this way. They play their home town a lot but it is rare to see them come this way so I could not be happier that they were able to join us for the party!
WORT are one of the WPC bands whose EP ‘Not you’re Cup of Tea” I released earlier this year. They are the perfect way to kick of proceedings with they nasty form stinky sludge…
This is such a crushing start to what will be a wonderful weekend of filth to start 2015.. WITCH HUNTER RECORDS have been very quiet of late and I am so happy to see them come back with such a long awaited release, Anyone who has read my review of MAGE‘s previous album would have seen me use the word ‘RIFFS’ quite a lot to describe ‘Black Sands’ as a damn fine collection of songs… and I am happy to report that with ‘Last Orders’ its business as usual as their are stacks of dem Riffs in this album too!
But, have they learned anything from mistakes of past (not that there were many) and again the answer is yes! My main gripe was that of the length and Last orders is just perfect. 7 expertly crafted songs that bring an all together heavier vibe into the band and the first track ‘Dark Matter’ is a crushing way to start proceedings. They have a much ‘Doomier’ vibe about them and with the intro even going a little into the world of Blast Beats its a pleasing intro to a stellar second offering…
All in all, this is MEGA and much more MEGA than anything they have put out so far, you can tell Mage have been paying close attention to whats been going on in the world around them as thye have taken the best and most crushing elements of many of the bands on the scene today and Put the MAGE stamp on it!

For the Friday we are going to make it a real rock n Roll party by adding good friends of DESERT STORM… Fellow Oxford residents MOTHER CORONA and sleaze juggernauts XII BOAR.
XII BOAR have played many a WPC night now and there is a damn good reason why, they bring the party! And what better time to kick you all in to action than right at the beginning of a brand new year (and hopefully by then their debut album will be out too!) and MOTHER CORONA shall be playing high up the bill where they deserve to be and hot off the release of their new corker of an album released this very week by us!
As for the Saturday we have the awesome TRIPPY WICKED AND THE COSMIC CHILDREN OF THE KNIGHT and hot Northern new comers BONGCAULDRON.
TRIPPY WICKED have been building up momentum with their brand new drummer and have new material being created too so it will be great to see them again and hopefully with some sexy new tunes too, and BONG CAULDRON shall be making their first ever appearance at a WPC night and after an ever growing fan base since the release of their last EP it is an absolute pleasure to have them joint the fun at this years event!
