This coming January shall see GURT’s first ever major recording ‘REDWIN’ re-released on vinyl for the first ever time to celebrate 5 years of being a band!

GURT formed in January 2010 and after a 3 track demo recording produced that year ‘REDWIN’ was Originally released in April 2011 on a small run of just 50 Digi-pack CDs, this was soon to be a sell out and has been sort after ever since. A small run of 50 more slipcase CDs was produced a year later with a couple of additional tracks but again they were not around for long and after a ton of requests it was decided to bring this cracking EP back on special Milky Clear 10″ Vinyl.

Back in 2010 my band GURT had the pleasure of sharing the stage with these guys at the Gaff (RIP) and although the gig itself was fairly mis-matched and poorly promoted we did get to see the awesome TEN TON TABBY, after then I must admit I never really saw much of them until recently when they released the mega ‘Stone by Stone’ which has all the riffs, groove and stomp required to be voted WPC’s ‘Band of the Week’.

the final 3 bands have been added to the WINTER WARMER WEEKENDER to complete the fun for the first show in 2015!

All 3 bands shall be opening proceedings on the saturday with Southern rockers SONS OF MERRICK, Northern bruisers BURDEN OF THE NOOSE and the newly reformed GODSIZE added to bring a lot more monstrosity to proceedings…

SONS OF MERRICK shall be opening proceedings and are back after playing last year at the Christmas Cracker and bringing their Southern Clutch inspired riffs to the fray!

BURDEN OF THE NOOSE come back after a very successful single release from our label last year and now with a second guitarist added once again you can ensure that with dual guitar and dual vocals they are no doubt going to rip our faces wide open!

and I am over the moon to add GODSIZE to the madness, after reforming this year these guys brand of Sludge Hardcore is likened to that of legends Iron Monkey and after Forming in 2000, their album was album released through Meltdown Records entitled “Hymns For The Fallen”. if you did not have chance to catch them first time round them you will not be disappointed!

Yesterday night this photo showing what is clearly a vinyl test press of some sort went up on the GURT Facebook page with a shed load of question marks following it.

What could it all mean?

Could it be linked with the WPC release that is coming in January 2015?

Here we are with a brand new feature where I shall be showing a band each week that has grabbed my attention, they may not be brand spanking new on the scene but they are certainly new to me!

First up, its Scottish riff monsters BACCHUS BARACUS with their awesome blend of gritty vocals and pounding stoner vibes, and this is obviously a mix that works as to date they have shared stages with Pentagram, Orange Goblin, Eye Hate God, Karma to Burn, Desert Storm, Dead Meadow, Naam, Gentleman’s Pistols, Jucifer, Kylesa, Enos, Mother Corona, Abrahma and Bam Margera’s Fuck Face Unstoppable. Which is not bad going, we just need to get these guys down to the South pretty sharpish and if these guys don’t end up gigging with XII BOAR then something is seriously wrong with the world, they have the balls and the groove to match and the tune ‘I am Mammoth’ (below) is the best song to showcase their awesome talent.
