Is it an EP or is it an album is the first question I ask myself before getting this triumphant return to form, a question that is not important in the grand scheme of things but this 9 track offering is filled with a lot of interlude tracks and only actually offers 5 new tracks which is a bit of a shame as they are all absolute crushers!

But as with all Will Haven records/EPs whatever, the atmospherics are there and the interludes do act as a great support to what is very bleak sounding record and make the whole package feel alot more fluid (which is quite obviously the point), I quite like the track ‘C’ which has a bit of a David Lynch/ Twin Peaks feel to it too.

This is massive stuff and the usual long drawn out riffs are even more pummeling and caveman like and even have a slight feel of old associated act The Abominable Iron Sloth (And you can be forgiven for thinking that ‘Do you have a Light’ is actually a CONAN track!).

Shame I am not going to catch these lot live this time round as it appears that Temples may have some sort of exclusivity for the South of the UK but one thing is for sure, These tracks are going to make a very welcomed addition to what is already a damn fine set list of songs!

This week and the next few months we have an avalanche of awesome new albums incoming, many of which are from some pretty big names (Faith No more and Will Haven to name just 2) but gladly this aptly named new collection of tunes from filth legends WEEDEATER was the first to hit my ears.

And what a comeback too, the last album ‘Jason the Dragon’ was obviously a good’un but I get the impression that many thought that it was not quite enough and after the hype it did not quite hit the same note as previous album ‘God luck and Good Speed’. This album however has been dropped with much less fan fare and I am happy to report that the tunes are there, the filth is there and they are back on top.

I don’t think it is unfair to say that the biggest highlight of this is the return to the simple production, this album sounds like it was recorded in a bin! Don’t get me wrong, its a luxury bin, with beautiful cushioned sides and Whiskey, Wine and Weed on tap. But the gritty and almost lacerating vocals alongside the plate shifting low end of bass and guitar show how this band are supposed to sound and for me capture the live sound better than any of the previous albums. It really is a corker!

Witty, intelligent and down right humorous vocals on the likes of opener ‘Processional’ are there to set the mood and then following that with the gigantic title track and brutal ‘Cain Enabler’ this is the sign of a band back on top, New boy Travis Owen really has an opportunity to shine too with some awesome drum work (and for those that have seen him live will now he is quite a damn clever sticksman!) and best of all the track ‘Bully’ is a sure fire way to open up the pits with some of the most vicious snarls and screams that Dixie has given us!

All in all a mighty album, all bow to the force of Goliathan!!!

So, the dust has settled after the greatest DESERTFEST yet and straight away they have something incredible lined up…

This means that the mighty EHG shall be gracing our shows once again and for the mere cost of just £25 you can see these along with a shit ton of other bands (2 stages worth) and its all held at The Dome and The Boston Music Rooms with one ticket allowing access to both stages all day and will also include an outside BBQ, smoking area and the after party.

… I already know you all are BUT it has been stupidly quiet of late here at WPC in terms of updates and reviews the reason for this is that I am one man and have a busy job, Life, Band and label to run and sadly that seems to use use up all my time!

So, I shall be trying my best to update this site with some of the reviews that have been piling up in the near future, I have been sent a lot and some of it is too damn good to not shout out loud about…

Having said that I have released 3 damn fine releases in the past month as well as being part of Desertfest once again so its not been all bad I guess! Just make sure you come and purchase these fine EPs and albums to ensure I can carry on this wonderful venture…

So, yet another release from our label to come in just a few weeks time! WPCP18 shall be the outstanding debut EP from San Francisco doom troop ‘BRUME‘. Released on limited CD run ‘Donkey’ features 5 tracks that are a sure fire instant win for fans of Witch Mountain, Alunah and Blood Ceremony!

In a world where everything traveled at the speed of sludge, Brume were united by a love of the riff in San Francisco at the beginning of 2014. Jamie McCathie (guitar) moved to California, leaving his UK sludge band Gurt in London but knew as soon as he met Susie McMullan (vox/bass) they’d make music. Instantly bonding over bands like Sleep, Windhand and The Melvins the two got to writing. Arising from the fog came Jordan Perkins-Lewis (Drums), who’s unique ‘Mr Bungle‘esque inspiration rounded out the songs, taking each idea and creating something beyond heavy. The trio headed into Sharkbite studios in Oakland (Sleep, High on Fire, Acid King) to create there first record at the end of 2014, combing fuzz soaked stoner metal, haunting ritualistic vocals and crushing slow and low doom.

As always it is limited to just 100 copies and the first 50 copies shall come with an exclusive gold circular printed patch.
