When planets Collide was created by me (Gareth Kelly) as a way of getting together like minded bands that are fans and influenced by the Sludgier, Stonier and Doomier things in life.... this has so far been very successful and with the help of the Windmill in Brixton i have not only managed to get some cracking bands together, but most importantly managed to run nights that mean that the bands are not expected to get people through the door to make the promoter happy but to have a great night and go home with a bit of money in their pockets. London is full of Pay to play venues and together we shall destroy them!!!
No fucking about , lets just get this out in the world! Next years WINTER WARMER WEEKENDER sees 2 days of banging tunes and a fair few new faces…
To Friday we have old friends SEDULUS join the night, after their recent slot supporting Ufomammut at the Islington Academy showing a few new tunes we can no doubt expect more new material from them here. And for the first time we have the very Psychedelic OLD MAN LIZARD who are currently showing Europe how its done and shall fit in very nicely to what shall be a great start to the weekend.
On Saturday things once again get a little heavier with 3 new faces in the form of SODEN, MORASS OF MOLASSES and VICTORIAN WHORE DOGS. All 3 bands have been recently featured on the site for their awesome new releases and show the awesome continuing high quality of the UK filthy music scene right now!

The end of every year is always a good time for music as every aims to get their albums out in time for peoples end of year lists, so its great to see the quality of releases improve, here is a few of my faves from this past month:
GHOST – Meliora
Seeing as that GHOST are by far my favourite band of the last few years there was no chance this was not going to be in the best of this month. Everything about this album is a massive improvement on the already amazing first offerings. The production is the most obvious thing with the Bass and drums sounding truly magnificent and Papa’s new incarnation (hmmm?) sounding better than ever, the layers of vocals really shine in tunes like ‘Spirit’ and ‘He Is’. Having already seen many of these tracks live at this years Leeds Festival its ‘Mummy Dust’ and ‘Absolution’ that really stand out as the biggest anthems on this near perfect album!
SODEN – S/T
the boys in SODEN a Worcester based band that I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with in September had just unleashed their first EP of 4 tracks (well technically 3 and a “bonus” track) and Not only were they an awesome Live act but the demos hold some great hope too. Coming somewhere between Doom and Grunge this instrumental 3 piece have some cracking riffs and the pacing is great too, the best thing is they don’t have the usual ‘I wish they had a vocalist’ feeling that most instrumental groups seem to suffer form in this genre! Give it a go you shall not be disappointed.
BLACK DAHLIA MURDER – Abysmal
These guys are some of the most horrendous yet fun Death/Metal/grind/Whatevercore bands in the world right now. Never have a band that plays such undeniably brutal music but wearing such massive smiles on their faces as they do so and I am happy to report that the album follows the same catchy but down right nasty riffery that we come to expect from the BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. I can’t work out if they are trying to take a more serious approach by the look of the artwork 9but the awesome puns are still present in the albums title) It is worth mentioning also that the song ‘Re-faced’ has one of the best drops I have heard in a long time… Get involved its party time!

BAND BIO:
Since forming at the end of 2013, Manchester’s PIST have relentlessly toured their debut EP ‘Riffology’, including a widely acclaimed performance opening Saturday’s Sophie Lancaster Stage at this year’s Bloodstock Festival (4.5/5 – Overdrive.ie).
Returning to the hallowed grounds of producer Chris Fielding’s (Conan, Winterfylleth, Electric Wizard, Napalm Death) Skyhammer Studios, PIST have delivered a dynamic, aggressive and groove laden 40 minute debut album, suitably titled “Rhythm and Booze” – released 30th October via When Planets Collide.
From the opening can of ‘Shitstorm’ through to the closing hangover of ‘Chunder’, guitarist John Nicholson churns out riffs with ease to a formidable groove bed from bassist Michael Collins and drummer Andy Hunt, completed by the shouts and rasps of vocalist Dave Rowlands. PIST proudly showcase their influences from Motorhead, through Black Sabbath to Alice in Chains and Orange Goblin, producing a cocktail of energetic stoner metal for the masses.
The band will be celebrating the release of ‘Rhythm and Booze’ at a free album release show at Camden’s Unicorn on 30th October, during their UK tour with Foetal Juice. Attendees of the show will get a free digital copy of the album.
2015 will see PIST continue slogging the UK roads, taking aim at Europe and festivals in 2016.

So ladies and gentlemen, the awesome THE DAY OF LOCUSTS debut offering ‘From the Gutter to the Gods’ is out right now so make sure you grab yourselves a copy.
So, its time to unleash the first set of bands for next years WINTER WARMER WEEKENDER and to start we have the first 2 bands for the Friday night and the first 3 bands for the Saturday!
First up on Friday we have the return of the ever awesome LIMB and after the release of their new album ‘Terminal’ they are sure to bring the party with their unique brand of ‘Goatslade’ rock n roll. And joining them on the Friday is WPC:Presents newbies THE DAY OF LOCUSTS who are returning after their last performance all the way back in 2011 to show to all that they have evolved into quite an impressive force!
Saturday and its time to bring the party with Headliners HANOWAR the hilariously “authentic” Manowar tribute band that have just wowed the crowds at this years Bloodstock Festival and earned their place at the top of this years winter warmer bill, alongside them are other Bloodstock attendees PIST whose raucous brand of riff n roll will get the drinks flowing and the heads nodding. Performing under them and for the first time at a WPC event is the epic northern sludgers BOSSKELOID, yet another band with a new album right round the corner, and after debuting some of these tracks at RIFF FEST recently I can confirm they are killer!!
So thats your first taste of whats to come at this years WINTER WARMER, Keep your eyes peeled for the next round of band very soon indeed!
