Being a massive fan of theatrics in my music I was stunned when I heard this album THE EARLS OF MARS i had written off as a standard Doom band and was an absolute idiot for being so late at giving them a listen. Yes there is that Trad Doom influence in there but there is just so much more to it!

I get feelings of old Music Hall sort of music in there too which is why this is such a winner for me, elements of it sound somewhere between The Tiger Lillies and System of a Down and its this whacky way of approaching their music makes it incredibly refreshing a why I find this such an incredibly interesting listen. The bombastic vocals slip into Matt Bellamy territory at times and lyrically there are some zany and mental stories to be told.

I have been informed that they were handpicked to support Orange Goblin on their recent tour and I have even more reason to be gutted of missing it as this truly is one of the best albums I have heard this year, a late addition to best albums of 2013…
