The Bendal Interlude – Odourama‏

It has been along time waiting for this EP to hit the (virtual) shelves and the 4 tracks here have proven to be worth the wait. Full of amazing blues/grind riffs and hilarious sampling, THE BENDAL INTERLUDE are that little bit different from everyone else on the scene. Its sick music for evil bastards to dance to, with unrelenting heaviness but a sexy unhinged groove that commands you to do a jig!

2 tracks have been around for some time in NSFW video form and more can be seen here and here, but at only £3 (and fantastic cover artwork designed by yours truly) this is a must have for all who like their glasses to be filled with Bucky and their music to be a little bit worrying!

Blackstorm – The Darkness is Getting Closer‏

It has been well over 2 years since BLACKSTORM have released anything at all and this release got me horrendously excited this morning once I found out it was out for the world to listen too. I have been flying the flag for the Brighton lads ever since I first heard them, having watched them several times in their hometown, which lead on to me asking them to headline the first birthday of WPC last October.

It’s no secret that Karl Middleton is by far my most favoured of all vocalists as the ferocity of his voice is equally matched by the calming and almost hypnotic singing tone and this band has been the best way in recent years to show the capability and range of his talent. Most will know his other band EARTHTONE9 and I think although the riffs are simpler and harder hitting in Blackstorm, this EP is moving more toward ET9’s sound and this is in no way a bad thing!

That, mixed with the amazing production of this 3 track EP means it makes an outstanding listen and really needs to be checked out by all. I hope it starts them on to much greater things as it completely overshadows the musicianship and writing quality shown in their previous effort ‘Rise Rebel Seers’ (Which was amazing as well!!)

Anaal Nathrakh – Vanitas‏

These are the cream of the crop when it comes to extreme metal bands and with this album it really is the most accessible to date. This is NOT to be seen as a bad thing as it still has the horrific anger and agony but the general production and melodies on this album are all the more apparent and it just makes for a much better listen. It’s probably the first album that is almost ALL “head bang” friendly which probably comes from the fact that they have had a fair few years to hone their skills whilst playing live and Mick and Dave definitely know what works. And I particularly LOVE the almost never ending blood curdling scream at the end of ‘Forging Towards the Sunset’

They have been very busy of late considering that they are a Trans-Atlantic band and work with other projects but after a massive string of European live dates and more to come (see below for the London date) it’s great to see that 2 of ANAAL NATHRAKH’s strongest albums have come in quick successions of the last 2 years. Let’s hope for another in 2013!

And remember folks…. Its Pronounced AN – ARL, NATH – RARK

Glass Wing Pilot – ‘Vultures’ Video

We were very lucky to have Bristol based GLASS WING PILOT play at our first WPC Bristol show at the Croft last year on what was one of their first gigs. Now they have this great new video and a new album ‘Diamonds For Stones’ that will be out on the 3rd of December. Featuring ex RINGS AROUND SATURN frontman Tom, these guys sound perfectly polished and ready to no doubt do very great things, this is a must for fans of your more upbeat bands like everyones favorites stoner rockers Queens of the Stone Age!

The Kings of Cover – 004

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX seem to do the odd cover BUT its the 5th song off their ‘I,Vigilante’ album that really stands out as there best and indeed the best JOURNEY cover i have ever heard! The slow haunting feel of the track ‘Of a Lifetime’ is magnified ten fold by Justin Greave’s Doom Blues and folk troop…

If you unfortunate enough never to have heard this song i have included it below:

Swamp Machine – Demos

These guys have been around for a little while and it seems in their home country they have had the chance to support the likes of our home grown heroes Gentleman’s Pistols but SWAMP MACHINE really do mean business and we need to get these fellas over to this country pretty damn quick.

They come from a little place called Oostburg, a town in the south-western Netherlands area so not really just down the road but there must be something in the water as the song ‘Giant Dwarf’ has quite possibly the greatest riff i have heard EVER!

If you think thats an exaggeration then have a listen, the swagger and stomp this riff creates is incredible and this band needs to be heard!

LISTEN TO ‘GIANT DWARF’ AND HEAR WHAT ALL THE FUSS IS ABOUT!
