FUKPIG – 3‏

I have such a love for all the material that comes out of the Devises label and in particular this lot so its nice to hear that ‘3’ is such a step up for the band as I did have a slight concern that they could not drag out the blast beats forever. Thankfully this really has a lot of diversity which comes from the more varied drum beats, not to say they are reinventing the Fukpig wheel as most of the songs are still short sharp bursts of pure brutality. A good handful of the tracks have the same feel as on the previous 2 records except Drunk’s vocals are even more filthy than before sounding like a grit blasted demonic version of John Lydon.

The diversity and evolution of the band becomes more apparent on tracks like ‘Troglodyte’ where there is a lot more of a harmony on the chorus and as a whole the songs generally feel a lot more focused than on previous records but without loosing the ferocity. ‘The absence of the Saviour’ has an amazing drop in tempo which is such a welcomed change for a band that is so relentlessly flat out in speed!

I have no idea why this band is not a million times more popular than they are. Their music can appeal to so many different people, perhaps not your traditional NWOBHM lot but certainly punk, grind, crust, death metal and hardcore fans should love every minute of this album.

Yet another genius offering from our Birmingham friends and my god these guys are a busy bunch with 3 albums out in as many years and splits to come very soon too, just keep the momentum up as the ever growing legion of Necropunks have an ever growing need to be fed this filth… the only major problem is their lack of gigs BUT that being said I am sure it will only make for a much more chaotic (and well attended) concert for when it eventually happens again.

HAIL NECROPUNK… and remember there is only one place you can get access to any of the bands CDs, Vinyl’s and another amazing merchandise and thats here
